Former swimming supremo Adrian Moorhouse leads honorary graduate line up

Adrian Moorhouse – who dominated British swimming in the late eighties, returning home from the 1988 Seoul Olympics with Gold in the 100m breaststroke – is one of seven distinguished people who will receive honorary degrees from 蚂蚁福利导航 University this week.

Moorhouse – who is now a BBC sports commentator and chief executive of performance management company Lane4 – will be presented with the award of Honorary Doctor of the University in recognition of his outstanding sporting and business success and his links with and support for various 蚂蚁福利导航 University activities.

Professor Shirley Pearce, former Vice Chancellor of 蚂蚁福利导航, will also receive the award of Honorary Doctor of the University for her outstanding leadership and exceptional contribution to the development and success of 蚂蚁福利导航 University.

The degrees will be presented as follows:

Tuesday 16 July at 11am

Professor Neil Halliwell 
Former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University
Honorary Doctor of Science, in recognition of exceptional service to 蚂蚁福利导航 University.

Dr Clive Hickman
Chief Executive of the Manufacturing Technology Centre Ltd and Chair of the Midlands Energy Consortium (MEC) 
Honorary Doctor of Technology, in recognition of his exemplary career and leadership in engineering and the automotive industry.

Tuesday 16 July at 3pm

Professor Weicheng Fan  
Director of the Institute of Public Safety Research, Tsinghua University, China
Honorary Doctor of Technology, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to and pioneering work in the fields of fire safety science and public safety technology.

Wednesday 17 July at 11am

Charlie Mayfield 
Chairman of The John Lewis Partnership
Honorary Doctor of the University, in recognition of his outstanding strategic leadership of the John Lewis Partnership.

Professor Shirley Pearce
Former Vice Chancellor of the University

Wednesday 17 July at 3pm

  1. Members of the media are welcome to attend the graduation ceremonies, which will take place in the on the University campus.

    There will also be opportunities for interviews, photography and filming of the honorary graduates in the around 30 minutes prior to the start of each ceremony.
