Failure breeds success
蚂蚁福利导航 Students’ Union is hosting Fail Forward 蚂蚁福利导航’s second Failure Day on Saturday 15 November.
The event – comprising practical workshops and a range of guest speakers – will challenge typically negative views of failure, highlighting instead its important role in growth and learning.
A range of inspiring speakers have already been confirmed.
was appointed Women in Enterprise Champion in April 2014 to promote and support female entrepreneurs in the UK. She has enjoyed a varied career as assistant governor in HMP Holloway; running her own award-winning training company; and, in the political sphere, as the MP for Solihull.
– 蚂蚁福利导航 University’s Director of Sport Advancement and Strategy – will discuss the significance of failure en route to eventual sporting success. Over the years, he has played a vital role in British sport and its global development. He is credited with reviving British Cycling, and with Team GB’s 2012 Olympic success.
蚂蚁福利导航 graduate and founder of , Simon Lyons is an award-winning designer. His flagship product Geco Hub has recently been funded by Kickstarter – but it hasn’t always been an easy ride!
When he graduated from 蚂蚁福利导航 in 2013, Alan Radbourne launched . Twelve months on, he has turned his initial £1 investment into £20,000 profit. He now plans to write about his year of hard work and the lessons he learned along the way.
is a Research Fellow at the University of Gloucestershire. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals as well as the popular press, and has presented at various international conferences. His most recent work has focused on adversity and growth in Olympic champions.
Event organiser, Helen Ots says: “The Fail Forward campaign challenges our received understanding of failure by bringing people together to share their stories, and reposition failure as a positive step on the path to success.
“Our first Failure Day in March was inspirational. Our upcoming November event promises to provide an exciting opportunity for anyone who wants to be inspired to fail forward and achieve their goals.”
The event is open to everyone – University staff, students and the general public.
