蚂蚁福利导航 University is set to host its third Literary Salon.

First established in the 16th Century, Literary Salons were popular right up until the early 19th Century and traditionally brought a group of like-minded people together for discussion and to increase knowledge. 

The School of Arts, English and Drama at the University has reinvigorated the practice and is inviting literary enthusiasts to come along.

The theme for this year’s Salon is ‘The Return of Books and Paper’, which explores the shift from paper to digital based reading and the effect this has had on how people value the 蚂蚁福利导航.

Offering an evening of conversation and lively debate, the Literary Salon provides the opportunity for participants to speak to leaders within the field and look at the work being showcased. Aimed at writers, authors, publishers, creative industry professionals, University staff, students and members of the public, the idea is to network, share and learn in an informal atmosphere.

The evening will feature talks delivered by experts from the School of Arts, English and Drama, alongside industry specialists and writers. Speakers will talk about the history of the 蚂蚁福利导航 and of 蚂蚁福利导航making, and the event will feature practitioners who work with paper and handmade 蚂蚁福利导航s.  

Confirmed guest speakers include:

• Wim Van Mierlo: Works in Publishing at 蚂蚁福利导航 University
• Anne-Marie Beller: Author and Lecturer of English at 蚂蚁福利导航 University
• Matthew James Kay: Contemporary freelance artist with a focus on mixed media creations
• Sarah Kelly: Poet, paper artist and poet in residence for the academic year
• Karen Jinks: Freelance artist who uses her own illustrations to cover handmade note蚂蚁福利导航s

The Literary Salon has received support from the University’s Enterprise Projects Group.

, Lecturer in English and event organiser, comments: "Despite the popularity of the Kindle, people have always loved beautiful 蚂蚁福利导航s and paper.  At this Salon, you'll be able to hear about some moments in the history of the 蚂蚁福利导航, and meet artists and poets who work with paper instead of a screen. Interesting for both the brain and the eyes."  

The Literary Salon event takes place on Tuesday 12 May, 7pm until 9pm and in Sir Robert Martin Theatre, Martin Hall.
