Our MSc in Finance and Management is ideal if you have a non-business undergraduate degree and are looking to transition into a financial management career. By studying this degree, you will develop a broad understanding of business, examining a range of areas including finance, marketing, human resources (HR), accounting and strategy. You will extend your financial knowledge and skills through focused accounting and finance modules, while enjoying the chance to dive deeper into your areas of interest with subjects such as sustainable finance, and financial statements analysis and valuations.

You will explore how organisations operate and look at the influences of the external environment, taking account of economic, environmental, ethical, legal, political, sociological and technological factors, and their effects at local, national and international levels. You will also consider how organisations are managed and financially controlled, and learn how markets operate for different financial products.

Compulsory modules

The aims of this module are:

  • to introduce students to the range of alternative techniques and strategies for managing people at work, and
  • to develop students' expertise in evaluating the different techniques and strategies in varied circumstances.



This module examines the principles of marketing, from theoretical and practical perspectives, which enables students to develop understanding of applied marketing and build a solid foundation for tackling future marketing modules.

The aim of this module is to 

  • Develop a critical understanding of modern corporate finance theory and fixed income valuations;
  • To enable students, through the application of appropriate tools and techniques, to both evaluate and solve complex fixed income and corporate finance problems.

The aims of this module are:

  • to enhance students' financial literacy
  • to develop students' abilities to analyse and interpret company financial performance.

The aims of this module are:

  • to develop a critical appreciation of the professional skills essential for success in finance and accounting roles;

  • develop an understanding of, and apply, the tools and techniques available to value the stock of listed public companies and apply them;
  • develop and enhance transferable skills.

The aims of this module are to:

  • To provide students with an understanding of mathematical models and main concepts in Behavioural Finance;
  • To deepen and broaden students’ conceptual understanding of how financial markets ‘actually work’ and how people ‘actually make decisions’ using real-life cases and field experimental results;
  • To equip students with advanced knowledge of the latest research developments in the Behavioural Finance subject area;
  • To develop skills that will enable students to critically analyse financial decisions in greater depth.

The aim of this module is:

  • to develop an appreciation of how organisations act strategically at the corporate and business levels.
  • to develop those skills which will allow the student to analyse a given industry and market.
  • to develop skills in the area of strategic analysis, the development of strategic options and the implementation of strategy.

The aims of this module are:

  • to present a range of issues affecting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs);
  • to develop both written and oral communication skills;
  • to encourage enthusiasm and self-motivation.

The aims of this module are:

  • To develop students understanding of theories of entrepreneurship in the context of global migration and displacement
  • To create an understanding of opportunities and challenges encountered by migrant and refugee entrepreneurs;
  • To cultivate students ability to identify, research and propose initiatives that address challenges encountered by migrant and refugee entrepreneurs;
  • To enable students to engage empathically with local contexts, promoting a better understanding of other places.

Compulsory modules

This module is an opportunity to tackle a real organisational problem in a specific discipline, as prescribed by a 'client' company, working in a group. The aims are:

  • to apply discipline-specific knowledge, covered in the post graduate programme, in addition to knowledge gained from previous studies (if relevant) to a real-world problem/situation.
  • to undertake business consultancy across the entire lifecycle of a project from inception to delivery.
  • to develop consulting skills, including those related to academic research, such as effective communication with the company, choosing appropriate theories/frameworks and effectively collecting and using data as needed.
  • to effectively work in a group.
  • to deliver a range of agreed outputs to a deadline.

Entry requirements for United Kingdom

A good honours degree in a non-finance field. Evidence of numerical proficiency, as demonstrated through the study of mathematical or statistical subjects in some part of the first degree. Applicants with relevant professional experience or professional qualifications would be welcomed.

Applicants with a substantial finance component to their degree should apply to one of our specialist Finance programmes.
